About Declan Hester

Based in Galway, Ireland, Declan Hester is a fully qualified and IACP accredited psychotherapist who has been practising since qualifying with an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2016. He also has over 20 years of experience working in the disability sector. He has extensive experience supporting young people with mental health concerns and neurodivergent young people —including those who identify as autistic, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other neurodevelopmental and sensory processing differences navigate everyday challenges.

Declan provides individual therapy for young people aged 13–25, as well as parent consultations tailored to support each family’s needs. His approach is calm, compassionate, and person-centred, creating a safe and supportive space where young people can express themselves openly and families can strengthen communication and connection.

Declan is committed to helping young people overcome challenges such as negotiating  peer relationship issues, anxiety, academic stress, low motivation, bullying, identity concerns, and family conflict — empowering them to grow in confidence and thrive in their own way.
